Neighborhood Ministry is our church’s approach to fulfilling our mission, which is based on the model of the First Church described in the Bible. The First Church was characterized by a strong sense of community and devotion to teaching, fellowship, breaking bread, and prayer. They shared everything they had and met regularly to worship and support one another. The Lord blessed their efforts, and many people were saved.
In our Neighborhood Ministry, we strategically aim to accomplish our mission by focusing on three key actions: winning people to Christ, training believers to become disciples, and sending disciples to impact the world. Our mission is urgent because Jesus commanded us to spread the good news to everyone. The eternal destiny of people is at stake, and a significant portion of the Nakawa community does not attend any church.
Neighborhood Ministry is designed to transform believers from passive consumers of spiritual resources to active contributors in the community. We believe that it’s not enough to simply listen to the Word of God; we must also apply it to our lives and obey its teachings. At CCU, we measure spiritual depth by how effectively we can integrate God’s Word into our lives and live it out obediently.
Outreach and Connection: The Neighborhood Group focuses on reaching out to unchurched neighbors in a strategic and consistent manner. This includes praying for their neighbors, planning events to connect and care for them, and building relationships with the intention of introducing them to Christ.
Spiritual Training and Growth: The Neighborhood Group provides a platform for members to review and discuss the weekend messages, engage with the Bible, and take action steps towards applying the teachings in their everyday lives. They also participate in various programs offered by CCU, such as Next Steps (including Starting Point, Baptism, Foundations, and Leadership Training), Transformation Groups, and serving opportunities.
Sending and Service: The Neighborhood Group emphasizes praying for one another and seeking opportunities to serve both their neighbors and the broader community. They prepare themselves by identifying and utilizing their individual gifts and resources to meet needs within the group. Additionally, they mobilize as a group to address specific neighborhood needs and engage in service projects.
